To request the renewal of a medication that has been previously prescribed by one of our doctors at the clinic, and as long as it is not a psychiatric / psychological medication.
Repeat Prescription Policy
We want to take care of you in a safe and professional way. For this reason, we have established some guidelines for repeat prescriptions:
When can a prescription be repeated?
- If your treatment is chronic or ongoing, and you have had a medical consultation within the past year.
- If you are requesting contraceptives and meet the necessary medical requirements (such as age, updated blood pressure, etc.).
When can a prescription not be repeated?
- If you have not attended a consultation in the past 6 to 12 months and do not have a chronic condition.
- If you are requesting controlled medications or antibiotics without a medical appointment.
- If it has been over 6-12 months since your last consultation for the specific medication you’re requesting — no exceptions.
Important Information:
- Controlled medications require in-person consultations.
- At the doctor’s discretion, they may be prescribed for a maximum of 3 to 6 months per prescription — always following a face-to-face consultation.
- If there are changes to your treatment, it is mandatory that the patient brings a report from the specialist who modified the dose or treatment plan (this also applies to other chronic treatments).
- Contraceptives for patients under 35 are managed through the HSE’s Contraception Pill Scheme (we can assist you in accessing it).
- For those over 35, blood pressure must be up to date to renew a contraceptive prescription.
If you need to renew your prescription and do not meet these criteria, we kindly ask that you book an appointment for a new medical evaluation.
Request Repeat Prescription
The review process may take 3–5 working days from the date the request is received, and up to 5–10 working days in total from the date of payment, if the request is approved.
